RAM 1500
The Dodge RAM was undoubtedly one of the most popular trucks of its time, so much so that parent company Chrysler decided to create a separate brand christened the RAM based on the pickup trucks. These trucks have always been at the top of their game, offering sheer raw hauling power with excellent off road abilities.
The other reason for the popularity of these pickups is that even though they boast the brawn of old school pickup trucks, they also function quite adequately for trips to the local grocery store at Bethlehem and Allentown. This is due to the coil spring rear suspension, which provides excellent comfort over bumps while keeping the interior quiet and comfortable.
RAM 1500 Engine
Powered by a 3.7 liter V6 engine that provides up to 215 horses, the RAM 1500 uses a four-speed automatic transmission rated at 235 pounds per feet of torque. An upgrade on the RAM ST and SLT model increases the engine capacity to a 4.7 liter V8 mated with a five-speed automatic transmission that outputs an ample 310hp with 330 pounds per feet of torque.
If you are still not satisfied by the power, you can also opt for a 5.7 liter V8 engine that can propel the RAM with 390 horses behind the wheel, with 407 pounds per feet of torque.
Exterior
As with the previous Dodge RAMs, the newly christened RAM 1500 is modeled as a full size truck. Three body styles are available; regular, extended and crew cab. The former can be equipped with either a 6 foot 4 inch loading bed or a larger version, while the extended is only available with the standard bed.
If you are looking to take the entire family out for a long drive across Allentown and Bethlehem, we would suggest looking at the crew cab model, which provides the most interior space. However, the bed is a foot shorter than the standard.
Features
The RAM 1500 is available in a variety of trims, namely the base ST level, upgraded SLT and the top of the line Laramie. While the base trims offers standard features such as air conditioning along with stability control and ABS, the upgraded versions may also be equipped with rear DVD systems and GPS navigation.
