Jeep Cherokee for Sale
Believe it or not, there was a time when SUV buyers were limited to a small group of people looking to just get across remote locations. This was due to them costing an arm and a leg, being unruly at handling and using up entire gas plants for a road trip. Today, the SUV is a completely different thing, with car-like handling, compact dimensions and unbelievable economical fuel mileages. The Jeep Cherokee can be credited as being the first crossover to hit the streets of Allentown and Bethlehem, totally changing the way we see SUVs today. The original 1980s Cherokee sported a unibody frame, as opposed to the truck based body-on-frame model that most SUVs at the time followed, which allowed it to handle like a dream while being easy on the gas mileage.
As with Dodge's caravan, the Cherokee was also replaced by a bigger version dubbed the Grand Cherokee and was halted in production around 2001. However, a huge fan base along with an unprecedented following has compelled the Cherokee to make a return yet again this year. The newer generation goes completely against the traditional boxy shape that most Jeep models follow, along with certain other changes. Engine
Most used Jeep Cherokee models at Kelly CDJR come with a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine that makes around 125hp. However, there are also some that come with a higher powered 4 liter engine that are affixed with six cylinders and produce a reasonable 190hp. Though this may not seem like much, the Jeep Cherokee did manage to impress up in off road tests across Allentown and Bethlehem. A five speed manual and automatic transmission is available along with various drive train choices, including a part time and full time 4WD system.
Features
Though the last Cherokee model came about 13 years ago, it was impressive in terms of features with a revised classy dashboard, multiple airbags and other safety features. Trim levels available for the 1997-2001 generation are SE, Sport and the off road oriented Country, though post 2000 models also feature Classic and Limited trims.
